Dear Single Malayalee Christian,
We are the creators of Fall in MalayaLove (FIM), the annual in-person dating experience for Malayalee Christians. Through our events, we've had the joy of witnessing 3 couples (that we know of!) go on to get engaged/married! Seeing these love stories unfold has been the greatest gift we could have asked for.
But we also recognize that a once-a-year, in-person event isn't accessible to everyone. Travel costs, timing, and life schedules are real barriers that can make attending simply out of reach. So we began asking ourselves - how can we expand these opportunities and enable more consistent and accessible connections within the Malayalee Christian community?
That's how Ishtam was born.
Our thesis: dating apps create fatigue. An infinite loop of matching, texting, and little momentum. Ishtam, which means โto likeโ in Malayalam, brings the same intentionality and heart of FIM into a simple, weekly online experience - one video conversation per week. Show up, talk, and see what happens next.
